STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN

2024-2025 Academic Year


Amerigo Education is pleased to announce that for the 2024-2025 Academic Year, we have teamed up with Cigna Global and University Health Plans to provide health insurance coverage for our students. The Amerigo Education Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) provides substantial benefits for covered medical expenses at a reasonable cost.

Eligibility & Plan Highlights

The SHIP is provided by Cigna Global and includes access to Cigna's national PPO network of providers. Students do not have to select a primary care physician and referrals are not required. There are two plan options; (1) Base Plan, and (2) Buy-Up Plan. All students are automatically enrolled in the Base Plan and no action is needed. Students choose their insurance option as part of the bundling process, so students interested in the Buy-Up plan can elect for that plan at that time. We encourage you to review the coverage of each plan and its differences by selecting the "Benefit Information” tab in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of this page to view the benefits and comparison between the two plans. Below are some of the highlights of the SHIP.

  • Access to Cigna’s nationwide PPO provider network
  • $500,000 maximum benefit per plan year
  • $1,000 out-of-pocket maximum 
  • 100% coverage for office visits, urgent care, emergency room, lab, x-ray and radiology, hospitalization, and surgery, after the out-of-pocket maximum is met
  • $250 maximum for preventive care services
  • 100% coverage for immunizations (not subject to the $250 preventive care benefit maximum)


Please note, that health insurance in the United States is different than in other countries. This is a helpful tool to help understand insurance terminology and navigate health insurance in the United States. 

To find additional benefit information, search for in-network providers, view your claim status, and access your online insurance ID card, please refer to the items in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of this page. 

Dental Plan

A voluntary dental plan is available through Cigna Dental. Enrollment information, including step-by-step instructions on the enrollment process, can be found by selecting “Dental Plan” in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of this page. Please note, that Amerigo does NOT manage the Cigna Dental plan and the cost is NOT included in the medical insurance cost. The Cigna Dental plan is a separate, voluntary plan that requires payment via credit card online. If you have questions about the enrollment process, available plans, and/or benefits, please call 866-438-2446, select option 3, and then option 2 to be connected with a Cigna agent. 

Vision Plan

A voluntary vision plan is available through VSP Vision Care. The enrollment form, premium information, coverage periods, deadlines, a complete description of benefits, and participating provider search can be found by selecting "VSP Vision Care Plan" from the navigation menu on the left-hand side of this page. Please note, that Amerigo does NOT manage the VSP Vision Care Plan and the cost is NOT included in the medical insurance cost. The VSP plan is a separate, voluntary plan that requires payment via credit card online.
