STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN
2024-2025 Academic Year
Massachusetts requires students enrolled at least 75% of full-time, who are not enrolled solely in short-term courses or an online program, to be covered by health insurance. Students required to have health insurance are enrolled in the American International College (AIC) Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) unless proof of comparable coverage is provided by completing the waiver form.

Waiver & Enrollment Process
Students automatically charged for the SHIP who do not complete a waiver or enrollment form will be retroactively enrolled after the deadline and responsible for the premium. Please complete one of the two forms below.
| Waiver Form | Students may request to opt-out of the AIC SHIP by submitting a waiver form if they are insured by a plan that is filed and approved in the US and compliant with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The plan must also provide comprehensive (non-emergency) coverage in the geographical area surrounding the campus. |
| Enrollment Form | Students automatically charged by AIC who intend to purchase the plan, should submit the enrollment form as soon as possible to avoid delayed access to their insurance benefits. Students not mandated to have insurance may voluntarily enroll in the SHIP by completing the enrollment form by the deadline. The insurance charge will be added to the student billing statement. |
Spring Termination
- Students whose practicum is out of state during the spring 2025 semester and the student has other coverage in the location of the practicum
- Students who will not attend AIC for the spring 2025 semester
- Students who are enrolled in MassHealth or a subsidized connector care plan on or before 1/1/2025
Qualifying Event Enrollment Process
Students who waived the SHIP may qualify for special enrollment rights if they incur an involuntary loss of other coverage. Students must submit the enrollment form located on the left side of this page within 60 days of their loss of other coverage. See the form for additional information.
