STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN
2012-2013 Policy Year
Dear Students,
Massachusetts state law (see Mass.gov website for further details) requires all full-time students enrolled in a degree-granting program in the state to participate in a qualifying student health insurance program or be enrolled in a health care plan with comparable coverage. To comply with this law, all MassArt undergraduate and graduate students taking 9 or more credits MUST either waive or enroll in the MassArt Student Health Insurance Plan online. This is an annual process, and a waiver or enrollment form must be submitted each academic year to ensure that students have sufficient health insurance coverage while in attendance at the college. International students are required to enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan.
The MassArt Student Health Insurance Plan is provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield and administered by University Health Plans. The premium for the 2012-2013 academic year is $1,261 and the policy is in effect from August 1, 2012, through July 31, 2013. IMPORTANT: All students taking 9 or more credits for the Fall 2012 semester MUST either waive or enroll in the MassArt Student Health Insurance Plan by doing the following no later than AUGUST 6, 2012:
WAIVE the MassArt Student Health Insurance Plan online by selecting the "Click Here to Waive" link below. You will be asked to provide information about your insurance coverage. This is the only way to waive the school insurance plan and thus remove the insurance charge of $1,261 from your student bill. The deadline for waiving the Student Health Insurance Plan is Monday, August 6, 2012. The earlier you waive, the sooner the insurance charge will be removed from your student bill.
OR
ENROLL in the MassArt Student Health Insurance Plan online by selecting the "Click Here to Enroll" link below. The deadline for enrolling in the Student Health Insurance Plan is Monday, August 6, 2012. By submitting the online enrollment form, you confirm your acceptance of the plan and expedite the processing of your insurance card. You may review the plan benefits by clicking on the "Brochure" link on the left of this page.
Please note that the following students are not eligible to use this online waiver system:
- International Students with foreign-based insurance carriers must purchase the MassArt Student Health Insurance Plan and may not waive
- Undergraduate and graduate students taking less than 9 credits are not eligible for the MassArt Student Health Insurance Plan and therefore need not waive (nor can they enroll)
- Students with Travel Insurance, a Commonwealth Care Plan, or Health Safety Net coverage may not waive, as these are not considered adequate health coverage. (MassHealth is considered acceptable coverage, and students with MassHealth may waive the MassArt student health insurance plan).
